Chairs EuroMUN 2024

Lets meet the EuroMUN2024 chairs:

INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE

Galina Milenova

My name is Galina Milenova, and I am an International and European Law student at the University of Groningen. I am Bulgarian, but lived in Cologne during my last years of school. It was then that I discovered MUN. Before I knew it, I was addicted to public speaking and negotiating with like-minded individuals. My degree is no wonder - which law student doesn't love the sound of their own voice? Apart from that? In my free time, you might catch me cooking a good soup or nose-deep in my bullet journal. After a terrific exchange in Vienna, I am excited to be back to the MUN scene. I believe ICJ offers a perfect opportunity to anyone who shares the passion for MUN but wants to try a new challenge in the area of law!"

Alexandros Ballis

I'm Alexandros - but you can totally drop the formality and call me Alex - originally hailing from the sunny vibes of Greece and currently deep-diving into the world of Civil Engineering in Aachen, Germany. While I may be crunching numbers and building bridges by day, my alter ego surfaces in the form of a seasoned MUN enthusiast. Over the past 8 years, I've clocked in more than 25 conferences, and this year, I'm honored to take the helm as a Chair for the International Court of Justice! Now, don't let the serious business fool you – dissecting legal arguments and evidence might be my bread and butter, but I'm equally pumped for the social soirée. Let's just say, after a day of high-stakes diplomacy, I'm more than ready to unwind and revel in the lively spirit of one of Europe's most vibrant cities."

COUNCIL OF EUROPE

Vanessa Billerey

I'm Vanessa Billerey, a 19 year-old French and Mexican student at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris. I started MUNs in high school and since then, I haven't stopped. I became Vice-President of the CINUP in charge of MUNs earlier this September. I had the honor to chair the first edition of the Council of Europe Model of Negotiations, and immediately fell in love with the concept, which is why I’m so enthusiastic to be able to chair this committee again. When I'm neither in class nor in conference, I love to sing and dance, and I tend to spend hours of my free time doing my nails.

Beatriz Santos Mayo

Hola! My name is Beatriz, and I'll be one of your co-chairs for the Council of Europe, EuroMUN 2024! I am a 20-year-old Spaniard and a last-year European Studies undergraduate at Maastricht University. I started my MUN career in 2022 when I helped to organize this outstanding conference and attended my first MUN, but you probably know me because of my Tiktoks as part of mymun team. I am a UN Women - European Committees type of MUNer, so I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to apply this year as a chair. I am passionate about EU-Türkiye relations, and of course, I also love to keep up with the newest digital legislations. On my blue days, I like staying home with a good movie and hot chocolate. I eagerly anticipate the speeches and ideas from the MPs as they strive to protect the rights of every citizen across the European continent in this evolving digital era!

SECURITY COUNCIL

Derin Kalkan

Greetings, everyone! I am Derin and I will be serving as a Chair in the United Nations Security Council in this year’s EuroMUN. I am 19, Turkish and currently studying European Law in Maastricht. Beyond my academic pursuits, you'll often find me engrossed in a Tarantino movie, experimenting with distinct recipes, or complaining about Ferrari's latest defeat in Formula 1. I'm absolutely thrilled to meet with each of you and am committed to making EuroMUN 2024 an unforgettable experience for all involved.

Daniel Henke

Hi, I'm Daniel, a German American Mathematics student at the Technical University Munich. I discovered my love for MUN all the way back in 2017 and I have been going to conferences ever since, including having the honor of being SecGen of IsarMUN this year. EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Efthimios Kounalakis

My name is Efthimios Kounalakis, and I am a bachelor’s student of International & European Studies at the University of Piraeus. At EUROMUN 2024, I have the honor to serve as chair of the European Parliament – an institution symbol of democracy, especially this year that the future of the EU will be defined by its citizens through European elections. My journey in the fascinating world of MUNs and MEUs began in my first year of my studies, and up until today my excitement remains steadfast. As importantly, I also define myself as an artist, with music often being for me an escape from the demanding and constantly fluctuating rates of reality.  I am looking forward to hearing you discuss our agenda in Maastricht, and I assure you that I am firmly resolved to assist you with all my efforts in order to elevate your experience in May!

Ana Domínguez

Ana is 21 years old, from a very nice city in Spain, Vigo, in the north. She is currently a student at the European Law School at Maastricht University. It was during her first bachelor, Global Studies at the University of Salamanca, Spain, that the intricacies of foreign affairs caught her attention. This is why she decided to further this knowledge into the world of diplomacy and thus participating in many MUNs since.

I’m looking forward to welcoming you all to the CoEU to debate a topic of such importance as tackling energy prices and security of supply.

EuroMUN has been an essential part of my university life, as I have been in the organizing team in the past two editions. Therefore, I am very excited to attend again in the role of a chair. Other than MUNs, and when I'm not buried under law textbooks, you'll find me exploring the city, listening to music or playing volleyball:) I cannot wait to meet you all and engage in some lively debates!

He studied environmental science, policy and geography. He is just finishing a bluebook traineeship at the European Commission and will hopefully have a job by the time EuroMUN rolls around.

Lucia Lamasova

Hi, I am Lucia, a Slovakian currently studying International Relations in Groningen. MUN has been my passion since my early high school years, and so I am looking forward to gaining even more amazing memories and experience while chairing the Historical Crisis Committee. (I hope to meet all of you soon!)

Hello, my name is Yoana Nikolova and I am a third-year International and European Law student in Groningen, the Netherlands. Originally from Bulgaria, although I wouldn’t describe myself as patriotic unless I hear music from home. I love writing and am proud of the fact that I am a published author. I am currently a member of the Well-being, Diversity and Inclusion Committee for my faculty and have been previously a part of the board of directors for Ganymedes, the oldest LGBT+ association in the Netherlands. In the past, I have worked briefly for the Ministry of Education and Culture, Foreign Affairs and Transportation and Communication of the Republic of Bulgaria. I am a passionate debater, travelling Europe to participate in MUNs and am excited to share my knowledge in my capacity as your (backroom) Chair.

Thomas Veenstra

Hello! My name is Thomas Veenstra, and I will be one of your chair! I am 25 years old, raised in the Netherlands in the province of Fryslân. I could talk for hours about political economy, emancipatory governance and fountain pens. Co-chairing Crisis at EuroMUN 2024 allows me to engage with (at least) two of those things. In our council, you’ll experience more about 19th-century politics and diplomacy in an interactive manner. I’m very eager to make sure your conference will be one you won’t forget! Although I got hooked relatively late into MUN, I have not regretted it for a second. You get to meet many like-minded young individuals, develop yourself and get to talk about topics close to your heart. MUN gives you a unique formative experience that will stick with you for the time to come. And I’ve stuck around because of it.

Fausto Zeevaert

Fausto is a student of history at the KU Leuven and has been MUNing since 2018. Because of this he has done multiple crisis committees over the past few years and he has a particular interest in its strategical aspects. Aside from MUNing he loves to go out cycling in the countryside of northern (Belgian) Limburg.
