United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women
UN Women stands for the United Nations Entity Assigned to Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. Aiming to contribute to meeting women’s needs worldwide, the body takes part in international negotiations and works with national governments to set standards about gender equality. UN Women also aids Member States in meeting these standards through the establishment of laws, policies and programmes, or by providing advice and financial support.

Hi, my name is Galina Milenova and I am an International and European Law student at the University of Groningen. I am Bulgarian but I moved to a boarding school in Cologne when I was fourteen. It was then that I discovered MUN. Before I knew it, I was addicted to public speaking in front of committees ranging from 20 to 200 delegates. My degree is no wonder - which law student doesn’t love the sound of their own voice? Besides MUN or law, you might catch me cooking a good soup or planning another trip. So, why UN Women? Simply, the agenda affecting people globally presents a unique chance to explore topics, reaching us all in our everyday lives - whether we like it or not.
Hello! My name is Thomas Veenstra, and I will be one of your chairs for UN Women! I am 24 years old, raised in the Netherlands, and was raided in the province of Fryslân. I could talk for hours about political economy, emancipatory governance and fountain pens.
Co-chairing UN Women at EuroMUN 2023 allows me to engage with (at least) two of those things. Reproductive healthcare is an extremely important, global and multidimensional topic!
Although I got hooked relatively late into MUN, I have not regretted it for a second. You get to meet many like-minded young individuals, develop yourself and get to talk about topics close to your heart. I will do my best to make EuroMUN an incredible experience for you!
