European Council

The European Council (EUCO) consists of all heads of states/government of the European Union, the president of the EUCO, and the President of the European Commission. Together, they define the priorities and the general political direction of the European Union. In its quarterly meetings, the organ formulates ‘conclusions’ that identify issues the EU faces and actions to take. Even though the European Council has no legislative power, it is still very important for the functioning of the EU.

CHAIRS

Anna Lehnert

Hey everyone! My name is Anna and I will be one of the EUCO chairs at this year´s EuroMUN! I am 24 years old, German by nationality, but grew up between Turkey, Belgium and Germany and currently live in Brussels. Before that, I did both my bachelor´s and master’s degree in European Law at Maastricht University, where I also was involved in UNSA and the organization of EuroMUN for multiple years. Having just completed a Traineeship in the Migration Unit of the Council of the European Union, the topic is clearly one that is close to my heart. I look forward to four intensive and engaging days of debate and hope to see some of you in the EUCO!

Imanol Olite Crisol

Hey everyone! I am Imanol, and this year I will be chairing the European Council at EuroMUN! I am last year student of Political Science in Barcelona, and for this academic course I am serving as President of my MUN association, UNSA Barcelona. My interests in diplomacy and international relations led me to the world of MUNs back in 2020, and since then I have participated in several MUNs meeting amazing people and living unforgettable experiences. This time, however, feels truly special to me, since for the first time ever I will be chairing the European Council; a comittee I have always applied for but that I have never had the chance to chair until now! Besides doing MUNs, I like cooking and traveling and I am a passionate of pop music! See you all in Maastricht!
